Count 'em, fifteen theme answers, all consistently changing only the last letter. Hats off to the master of this HOKEY type of theme.
HTG for 64D HART because I could not remember "Starting Over", and for 80D Eyes Wide SHUT. In the same area, did not know 73D PADDY, but it wasn't clued in a way conducive to Googling. I was also stuck in that area with "crop" instead of SPUR for a 74A "Pony provoker" at first, until INJURY demanded the U.
A lot of secondary movie/TV related fill: COHAN, TOSHIRO, REDD, GABLE, FAY and her role as ANN, REEL, YES I CAN spread over two entries, HEDY, DR NO and IAN (yes, the Bond series were books first, but film brought the characters to the masses), YODA, OUR Gang, and even SPONGEBOB. Plus the aforementioned SHUT and PADDY, as clued by "Marty's creator."
This is my first Merl Reagle from the CV/LAT website. Had a little extra time today so I thought I'd try it... great fun!
For some reason my favorite was IVANHOG, although the rest were all fun. Also liked "DASBOOM", as we're great "Big Bang Theory" fans.
Had a bit of trouble in the SW as I had "SheLIED" for a long time, but it worked itself out and, in the end, DNG.
Tx @pg for the blog. Will probably be back next Sunday, too, while I'm on vacation.
